Tribute to my boyz

These are my boyz. I love them. They bring me such joy and unconditional love.

Steely is my Weimaraner, 4 years old. Zappa is his adopted brother, also 4. They are best buds that sleep, play and get into trouble together.

We are so lucky to be able to get them out to play this winter. Last winter we had so much snow that we were stranded for months. This year - so far - it's been wonderful! They love to run and are beautiful to watch. Zappa's the sprinter and Steely's the endurance runner. They both bring me joy when they run.

My backyard playground...

Riverside State Park...

And on the cold, rainy days, they watch me on the treadmill... (poor babies!) :)

Don't forget to love and hug and run your dogs today!

They are gorgeous - Zappa looks like a long-legged brindle deer in the side shot!

Our lady is 12.5 years old and gave us quite a scare yesterday. A hurried trip to the vet and $300 later we've actually found out she's quite healthy for her age. Yesterday she wouldn't sit or lie down, she just stood with her head hanging, breathing very rapidly. We thought congestive heart failure, but it was not. Apparently she's got bone spurs along her neck and spine and the vet suspects she did something to jam them, or strain the area or something. She seems to be doing better today on anti-inflammatories and pain killers. Thank goodness! We know that she's getting old, but we aren't quite ready to say good-bye...

Thanks for your comments here, fellow dog lovers!

Michelle, whew! I am sorry about that scare! Wow. I'm so glad your girl is ok. That must've been frightening.

Zappa has some spine issues too; his back legs spasm severely on occasion. It's sad cuz he's so not a complainer and he tries to walk even if he has a spasm but he nearly falls down. He's a retired racer after all! And the goofball Steely had a malignant skin tumor removed last year. Oy! But so far, so good though. I've rushed him in for a few other biopsies since then that turned out ok.. I'm broker ... but significantly richer because they are both in my life.

They're our babies, yes! To our boyz and grrls!

Hi Lisa! Steely and Zappa are gorgeous! The picture of them by the treadmill is classic! THey look like they are trying so hard to be good! THanks for sharing!

@Jamie - Haha! Yes, they are trying to be good. Every now and then though Zappa gets the crazy idea of coming over and trying to smell the treadmill belt and he burns the tip of his nose on it! You'd think he'd learn.. :)

BTW - can't wait to listen to your Endurance.com interview!
